Synopsis

More than a century after dimensional gates appeared, hunters empowered by transcendent sponsors have built a world where the powerless live beneath them. The strongest hunters became known as the Twelve Heroes, then called themselves gods and created Eden, an order that rules society. Junkyung Lee is an ordinary powerless man who dreams of becoming a hunter and treasures the story of a forgotten hero known as the Demon King. After he and his mentor Sungkoo are attacked by Eden's ruler, Junkyung is sent more than one hundred years into the past, to the age when hunters first began to appear. Given a chance to change history, he sets out to become a Player, surpass the hunters who once dominated humanity, and prevent the future he already lived through.

Editorial note

Starting Today Im A Player is a Korean regression hunter fantasy about a powerless man sent back to the beginning of the age that eventually produced Eden's oppressive rule. Junkyung's knowledge of the future gives him strategic advantages, but he must still build strength, earn powerful sponsorship, survive gates and monsters, and confront the figures who will later become near-divine rulers. The story combines modern fantasy, time regression, sponsor-based abilities, power progression, and large-scale conflict over who gets to shape the future of humanity.

The series combines hunter fantasy with a large-scale regression premise. Junkyung begins in a future where sponsored hunters have turned themselves into rulers and ordinary people live beneath them. Being sent back to the era when hunters first emerged gives him a chance to intervene before Eden's hierarchy is established. His advantage comes from knowledge of the ruined future, the legacy of the Demon King he admired, and the unusual power that lets him become something beyond an ordinary hunt
