Synopsis
After a drunk driver leaves Um Taesung half-paralyzed, his days revolve around medical bills and the fantasy novel The Mage That Devours the World. The book offers little comfort when its ending has the main character destroy everything. Then Taesung wakes up inside that same story as Mord Vernars, a seemingly unimportant extra with far more potential than his original role suggests. Knowing how badly the plot ends, Mord refuses to stand aside: he must grow strong enough to interfere with a future everyone else is walking toward blindly.
Rather than taking over the novel’s hero, Taesung starts as Mord Vernars, someone the original narrative was never built around. His advantage is not simply raw power: he has read the ending and knows the cost of letting events play out. The contrast between his powerless former life and the strength available in this fantasy world gives the battles and training a personal edge.

What it feels like
Mord is a better hook than another straightforward chosen hero. Taesung has already watched this novel end in disaster, so every victory matters as a possible deviation from a story he knows too well. The adaptation leans on combat, the tension of foreknowledge and a protagonist determined not to waste the second life he never expected.
