Synopsis

When rifts from the VR game Chronicles of Arcana begin opening in the real world, monsters pour out and former players awaken with the stats, classes and abilities of their old characters. Ordinary office worker Lee Hoyeol awakens as Grandfell Claudi Arpeus Romeo, the painfully dramatic character he created during his middle-school years. Grandfell's personality is embarrassing, rigid and completely unlike Hoyeol's normal self, but his class is far more useful than expected: he is a demon hunter. Forced to live with the persona he would rather forget, Hoyeol uses Grandfell's abilities and uncompromising confidence to confront the demons threatening reality.

Editorial note

The comedy comes from Hoyeol being trapped behind the behavior of an old role-playing character he now finds unbearable, while the action works because Grandfell's absurd confidence is backed by genuine demon-hunting ability. The series turns secondhand embarrassment into a combat advantage: what looks ridiculous in normal conversation becomes intimidatingly effective when Hoyeol faces demons, guilds and game systems that have crossed into the real world.
