ABOUT

Synopsis

In the present day, Yanao Seijin is drawn into Abstergo Industries' Animus experiments and forced to relive the memories of Edward Kenway, the reckless pirate captain who sailed the Caribbean in 1715. Edward begins as a fortune-seeker with little interest in causes, but his theft of an Assassin identity pulls him into the ancient conflict between Assassins and Templars. As Seijin experiences Edward's battles, betrayals, sea raids and encounters with legendary pirates such as Blackbeard, the line between historical memory and Abstergo's modern agenda becomes increasingly dangerous.

Editorial note

Kakusei is not a straight scene-for-scene copy of the game. The manga compresses Black Flag into a two-volume structure while strengthening the modern-day framing through Yanao Seijin and Abstergo. Its strongest appeal is the contrast between Edward Kenway's chaotic pirate life and the controlled Animus setting around Seijin. Readers get naval warfare, assassinations, Caribbean piracy and the Assassin–Templar conflict in a compact adaptation that can be read independently of the full game campaign.

Action, historical adventure and the Assassin–Templar conspiracy dominate. The adaptation is compact but layered by its dual timeline, with Seijin in the present and Edward Kenway in 1715.
