Synopsis

Yoo Il-shin is a failed third-rate web novelist living in a world where hunters receive all the attention. After finally awakening, he is disappointed to be classified as a G-rank hunter. Then he discovers a strange game app on his smartphone. Inside it is a tiny world whose weak inhabitants begin worshipping him as a god after he intervenes to save them. Even stranger, the divine powers and rewards he gains through the game can be used in reality. As his followers multiply and quests continue piling up, Il-shin must balance hunter society, supernatural threats and his increasingly absurd role as a genuine deity.

Editorial note

I'll Be Taking a Break for Personal Reasons mixes hunter fantasy, comedy and god-game progression around an intentionally ridiculous premise. Yoo Il-shin begins as an unimpressive G-rank hunter and struggling writer, but his smartphone links him to a miniature world where faith produces real power. The strongest appeal is the gap between his ordinary social position and the divine authority he gradually acquires, creating both comedic misunderstandings and increasingly large supernatural stakes.

The strongest StoryKai positioning is 'a G-rank hunter accidentally becomes a real god through his smartphone.' The title's comedy and progression both depend on the gap between Il-shin's unimpressive public status and his growing divine authority.
