Synopsis

Baek Yigang was born into one of the Seven Great Martial Clans, but the Taiyin Qi Blockage leaves him unable to accumulate internal energy and unlikely to live past twenty. He retreats to a quiet life at the Baek estate until masked assailants attack. Sohwa, the servant he considers a sister, is killed while helping him escape. Trapped in a secret underground passage, Yigang draws a rusted sword rather than surrender. The weapon brings him face to face with the spirit of Baek Seongcheon, the legendary Immortal Divine Sword who led the clan two centuries earlier. A sickly heir suddenly has the guidance of a master whose techniques were supposed to have died with him.

Editorial note

Its hook is not a naturally gifted swordsman collecting victories. Yigang knows that his body may fail before his ambitions can take shape. The relationship with the formidable ancestor inside the sword gives the martial training a sharper edge: every improvement costs effort, and the clock never entirely disappears.
